Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Y5 Parents/Carers,
Our scheduled residential trip for Y6 pupils to Carlton Outdoor Education Centre usually takes place in February. However, due to the uncertainty of any restrictions in the winter months we have taken the opportunity to book and go in the Autumn Term as there was no availability in the Summer Term of next year. Therefore, our residential visit to Carlton for Year 6 pupils will take place on:
Monday 18th October – Friday 22nd October 2021
As you may be aware, the local authority is no longer able to subsidise the costs for families on free school meals and/or low incomes.
The cost of visiting Carlton has increased considerably over the last few years. The total cost is approx. £260.00 per pupil, this includes: accommodation, all food & activities, transport, insurance and £8.00 pocket money per child.
As we feel Carlton is an essential, valuable learning experience and part of the Year 6 curriculum for our children, the school Governors have agreed to subsidise the cost again this year to ensure that everyone in Year 6 is able to attend.
We are asking that all pupils pay a minimum contribution of £140.00 towards the total cost of the visit.
We are aware that this does not give a lot of notice for the payment; therefore if you would like to pay in small amounts from now until the visit on the 18th October then payments can be made to the school office.
Any financial concerns regarding the visit can be discussed with myself on an individual basis.
If your child does not want to go to Carlton at the moment it may be worth paying the money as last year several children changed their mind at the last minute and parents had to pay the full amount in one payment. If your child does not want to attend Carlton in October all money will be reimbursed.
Further meetings will be held in school when your child is in year 6 to discuss the trip further. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Barrass or myself.
Thank you
Mrs Darby
Dear Parents/Carers
As I am sure you have seen in the news many Covid restrictions are due to lift on 19th July.
The requirement to isolate as a close contact remains until 16th August.
After we break up on Friday our Covid phone (07714 518313) will still be available for you to report positive PCR results.
If any children develop symptoms within 48 hours of being in school and then test positive we would like to inform their classmates and the staff involved.
In order to reduce the impact on staff we will be letting parents know by posting a message on all of the usual platforms.
We will not make individual calls. If you would prefer a telephone call because you do not access the usual platforms please let the office know before Friday.
The Covid phone will be switched off on Wednesday morning 21st July and from that date we do not need to know about positive results. All track and trace from that point will be undertaken by the national test and trace service.
Many thanks for your co-operation with this unpleasant task over the last 18 months. We have had many difficult calls to make, often at unsocial times and you have helped by being so kind and understanding.
Kind regards
Mrs Darby
Dear Parents/Carers
You should have received a letter from the local authority with details of the holiday support on offer.
If you are in receipt of benefits related free school meals there is a voucher for £50.00 per child in the school office for you to collect. Eligible 2 and 3 year olds have had their vouchers sent directly by the local authority to their home address.
We have received codes from the local authority and we have printed the vouchers for you.
We have vouchers for Tesco, Asda and Aldi
These will be distributed on a first come first served basis in terms of choice.
Vouchers can be collected from the school office from 1pm today, if you wish to choose your supermarket.
Any vouchers not collected by Friday will be posted out.
Please note we did not order the codes so we can not reorder if vouchers are lost or damaged.
Many thanks
Mrs Darby
Y6 Parents/Carers
The zoom link for the Y6 virtual ‘leavers’ assembly which was previously posted will no longer give you access to the Assembly. The link will now be sent to you via email, if you do not receive an email today with the link on this means we do not have your email address so please contact school and we will be able to add you.
Thank you

Dear parent/ guardian,
I am sure you agree that this isolation period for the Y6 children has come at the cruellest of times. We all share your frustration and disappointment that it has happened this way. However, as always, the safety of your child and your family is the priority and I’m sure you all understand.
To make the best out of this situation, arrangements have been made to mark the occasion of your child leaving Kingsley and for you to receive important information (such as your child’s school report). Please see the sections below for more details. Important: please ensure your child continues to isolate – they cannot come to school with you to collect anything!
School reports, personal belongings
If your child has a sibling in school today, we will send your Y6 report home with him/her. We will also send any personal belongings from Y6.
The reports and belongings of all other Y6 children will be available for collection from the school office from 3:20pm today.
If you cannot collect from the school office, it will be delivered to your home address on Thursday 15th July.
Free school meals
If your child is entitled to free school meals, a food package will be available for collection from the school office from Tuesday 13th July
Leavers’ assembly
On Friday 16th July at 10am, we will be hosting a virtual leavers’ assembly for your child and details to join the assembly will follow.
Leavers’ Pack
We are currently working hard to make a pack to celebrate your child’s time with us at Kingsley. This will include: a leavers’ book, a Kingsley pen, a DVD, a free copy of your child’s individual report photo (professionally printed) and some special messages from the staff at Kingsley. These will not be available until Thursday 15th July. On Thursday, we will either send it home with a sibling or deliver it to your home address.
Carlton Photos
For those of your who have already ordered and paid for the Carlton photos DVD, it will be included in your child’s leavers’ pack (see previous section for details).
If you still wish to purchase one of these, please ring the school office to make the order and arrange payment. We will need all orders before 12pm on Wednesday 14th July to enable us to make them in time. Once we have your order, the DVD will be added to your child’s leavers’ pack.
Work packs
There will be work packs available for collection from the school office from lunch time today. The work will reflect the expectations we would have had if your children were in school this week. If you feel that you can provide tasks such as mindful colouring and puzzles yourself, there is no need to collect one.
If you have any questions/ concerns that you would like to discuss with us, please contact us by calling the main school office. If your child develops symptoms, please ring the school Covid phone asap (07714518313).
Thank you.
Kingsley Leadership/ Y6 Team.
Dear parents/carers/guardians
Reports will be sent out today for the children in school (Nursery, Reception, Y1, Y2, Y4, Y5). Inside the envelope is also a leaflet with your childs’s new teacher on. Unfortunately, we will be unable to do our usual meet the teacher sessions in school due to Covid restrictions and bubble closures, however we can reassure children and parents we have no new teachers starting in September.
Children in Mrs Lucas’s class and Miss Simpson’s class will receive their report when staff return from isolation this week.
Y6 school reports will be passed to siblings if possible. If not they will be available from the school office from 3.20pm today.
For children in any other year groups who are ill, isolating or not currently in school, any reports and photos that are still in school on Thursday at 3.20pm will be posted out on Friday.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Mrs A Darby
Dear Parents/Carers
You will see when you receive your child's report that we have included a photograph of your child this year.
These photographs were taken by a member of our staff in school. As we did not have our usual tempest photographs this year we have printed off a 6 X 8 copy of your child's picture for you.
There is no charge for this however, if you would like to send a small donation towards the cost that would be appreciated.
A small number of children were absent from these photographs or refused to have one taken.
Thank you
Mrs Darby
Dear Parents and Carers, we have been informed today of a positive lateral flow result from the Key Stage 2 base, Mrs Worth's class.
This means that everyone in there will need to isolate until we receive the results of the PCR test.
This only affects the children who were in the base on Friday.
Mrs Barrass has attempted to call all affected families this morning.
We will be in touch as soon as we receive the result.
Mrs Darby
Dear Parents/Carers
We have, this morning, been informed of a positive case in Year 6. This means all of the children now need to isolate until midnight on Saturday 17th July. They can go out again on Sunday 18th July. We have attempted to call all affected parents this morning.
Unfortunately this means the children will miss their last week in school. We will hand deliver leavers books and reports this week.
Please give us a call if you have any queries.
Mrs Darby
