Visitors to our school

Code of Conduct for Visitors, Contractors and Volunteers

General Expectations

 

  • Provide details to the reception staff, including their name, purpose of the visit, name of the pupil the visit affects/staff member who arranged the visit.
  • A member of staff to sign you in using the visitors’ book.
  • Display the ID badges provided at all times whilst on school property.
  • Return ID badges to the school office before departure.
  • Ensure a member of staff signs you out upon departure.
  • Smoking, consuming alcohol or any illegal substances is prohibited at all times
  • Accessible adult toilets are next to the staffroom, in nursery and within the Support Centre. Do not use pupil toilets
  • Parking is available on site or in the recreational ground car park opposite the school.
  • Please stay within the areas that are necessary for your visit
  • Work safely and responsibly and be aware of responsibility for own actions and behaviour.

  • Avoid contact with children. Never give your personal contact details to children or young people.

  • Never be in contact with children without school supervision.

  • Stay within the agreed work area and access routes, obtain permission if you need to go outside these areas.

  • Do not use profane or inappropriate language.

  • Dress appropriately.

Health and Safety

  • Please familiarise yourself with the fire exits which are shown on maps of the school placed in rooms, corridors and office areas
  • When the alarm sounds report to the nearest assembly point so that you can be accounted for
  • Emergency First Aid equipment is stored in the cupboard opposite the ladies toilets, near the KS2 entrance, in the KS1 kitchen and in the nursery disabled toilet. 2 Defibrillators are located in the Main School Emergency Area and in the Support Centre office. 
  • There are many first aid trained staff in school if fisrt aid is needed
  • If you are working with children, escort them to safety and notify a member of staff

Mobile phones, cameras, etc.

Whilst on site please:

  • Only use in connection with your business and when approved to do so
  • Do not leave equipment unattended
  • Ensure that your mobile phones’ ‘bluetooth’ capacity  is disabled
  • Do not use mobile phones in the presence of pupils
  • Computers are not to be used by visitors unless you are approved to do so. Wifi can only be accessed for work purposes and the Guest user login details must be used
  • Taking photographs or recording videos is not permitted unless consent has been sought for the relevant school activity.

Confidentiality

  • Personal information should not be disclosed by any means accidentally or otherwise to any unauthorised third party
  • All data and school information should not be shared outside of the workplace

Interactions with pupils

Where your role requires that you interact with pupils or you are attending school from Local Authority/Partnership/Agency you must:

  • Present your ID
  • Relevant checks will be made depending on the reason for your visit. If a DBS certificate is required your details will  be taken and placed on our Single Central Record
  • Wear ID badges at all times

 

Safeguarding/Child Protection

 

Any concerns or disclosures must be reported immediately to the Head Teacher (Mrs Alison Darby) or to Mrs Jill Sherwood or Mrs Linda Craig who are the named people for Child Protection in school. This information must not be discussed with anyone.
